Menopausal Depression

Sometimes, it comes over you like a black wave of misery. Sucking the life right out of you.  You are not ready for it. You don;t know where it came from. You were happy just a second ago. All you know to that you feel like crying or screaming. All you want to do is crawl back under the covers and be left alone in your misery.

Does that sound familiar to you?  Can you hold your hand up and say " Me Too!"

If so you may be having symptoms of menopause. Depression  is a another signs of menopause.  It hasn't been a continuous problem for me.  But it effects all women differently. You can have very mild problems up to severe depression. Always talk with your physician about any problems you may be having.

But if you are like most women, you don't have the luxury of crawling back into bed and wallowing in your pain and misery.

The good thing is, it does not occur everyday. It comes and goes infrequently.

In case you have not read my other blog, Help Me Survive Menopause , menopause is a long process, lasting up to ten years. SORRY.  But some of the time you will hardly notice any symptoms.  Menopause is the process where your body begins to reduces  the amount of female hormones it produces.

There are a few things you can do to help with depression. Deep Breathing exercises.  There are a lot of  deep breathing exercise that you can try. Find one that works for you. Some places to look for them are:

     Women to Women

    Dr. Weil's Deep Breathing Exercises

     Breathing Techniques

Avoid stressful situations as much as possible.  Get plenty of sleep. Eat a well-balanced diet.

It is not healthy to  suppress all this emotion, you have to let it out. Have a good cry. Exercise. Buy a few foam balls and throw them or squeeze them.

If you are constantly depressed, please see a doctor. Remember you are not crazy, you are menopausal, your hormones are out of control. Think PMS anytime times ten.

It's your body, learn to control it. Don't let it control you.  Good Day.
